Over the years our families have moved to various parts of the country, which means when they come to visit it is usually for a week or more. Trying to keep everyone entertained for that length of time can become a chore. We don’t believe in letting any age child just sit in front of the tv or computer. The little ones are usually easy to keep busy. We take them for walks and find pretty flowers, birds, or rocks; the list is endless.
Doing little things like that will keep them entertained for hours and helps prevent childhood obesity. When they tire of that, there are a vast array of educational toys. Baby Einstein has a great variety of such toys.
Keeping teenagers occupied is another story. They love to go boating on our pontoon on any one of the many lakes here in the Ozarks. Naturally we follow all the boating rules and regulations. After cruising around for a while, we will pull into a quiet cove and let them dive in and swim. There is also a great little swimming hole that they particularly like because there is a tree with a rope they can swing on and drop into the water. This place has been around for many years because a friend of ours used to swim there when he was a kid.
The whole group enjoys going to Branson, Missouri to Silver Dollar City. There is something to entertain everyone from music, rides, crafts, old time ways of making items, glass blowing, lots of food, etc. A whole day can be spent without anyone getting bored.
We truly enjoy being able to spend quality time with all of our families.
