Do you know how to properly bathe your baby?

3 babies in a tubAre you a new mother? If so, here are a few tips to help you  make bathing an enjoyable experience for both you and your baby. Most Babybathbabies love baths, but sometimes it can be a rather scarey experience for a new baby and a new mom too.
1 – Stay at arms length and keep your eyes on the baby constantly. An unattended baby can drown in less than an inch of water, within a few seconds. Collect all the things you will need to bathe your baby  in advance, like towels toiletries, clean clothing, etc.
2 – The baby should be bathed in a warm room and the water temperature should be between 100-120 degrees Fahrenheit. Always test the temperature of the water  on your wrist before placing baby into the water. Never put a baby  into the tub while the water is running. Fill the tub or sink with water not more than 5 inches deep.  For older babies it shouldn’t be filled no more than their waist deep.
3 – Place a towel in the bottom of the tub to avoid slipping and slowly ease the baby gently into the water. If your baby is a new born, give extra support by holding the baby firmly from the back and support the head and neck. Start washing the baby’s face gently with a soft cloth. Then wash baby’s hair with baby shampoo. Use baby bath products that are especially designed for babies.
4 – After washing, rinsing and drying, wrap baby immediately in a towel or blanket while getting the layette ready to put on. Then wrap in a blanket again and take time out for cuddle time.
5 – Enjoy bathing your baby! Sing or talk to them while bathing so baby will feel comfortable and enjoy this ritual. It helps develop a great bonding and your baby will always enjoy bathing.
